Where to brunch this weekend

Having been bed-ridden on-and-off for the past month, unfortunately, brunch this weekend will be a labor of love. I say “unfortunately” because it’s FIVE DEGREES OUTSIDE and now we call all look forward to CTA shut downs. Can’t even have a stiff drink to warm the blood either, thanks to the buzzkill of antibiotics. So, yes, I would like to have some cheese with that whine. You win this time, Chicago.

Bloody MaryA bloody shame I can’t drink this! (Photo: Carly Fisher)

Here are some suggestions on where to have brunch this weekend, including where to find me sober, throwing my crayons and sipping on a few Shirley Temples!

P.S. – The Restaurant Directory has been had so many additions and changes, it will blow. your. mind. (or at least find you a new brunch spot).

Reader’s Choice: Hearty

Readers voted Hearty (3819 N. Broadway Ave.) the restaurant of choice for my next brunch outing and I am 100% comfortable with that. Bless those boys and their biscuits with rose petal butter. Should have lots of nice eye candy for all y’alls soon.

Fashion brunches require showering

This Saturday at Tocco (1266 N. Milwaukee Ave.) is the Chicago Fashion Brunch. A good opportunity for fashionistas to view the latest line from Akira and then make some impulsive purchases after a few Bellinis. Seating times range between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.. To make a reservation, contact Daniel Bruce at 917.583.1538 or e-mail chicagofashionbrunch@gmail.com

Can’t make it to this event, but still want to try brunch at Tocco? The restaurant just announced plans to start brunch service on February 14 for Valentine’s Day. Brunch will be served 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

Brunch in bed

Don’t want to leave bed? Can’t really blame you there. Pretty sure most chefs don’t want to get out of bed either. But if you have fallen into your pillow top mattress and simply can’t get up, there is hope: delivery! The Shambles, Division Street Ale House and Coffee and Crepe Palace in Lincoln Park will happily deliver brunch to your doorstep. Keeping things real/lazy around here, check out these Chicago Brunch Blog picks for other brunch delivery hotspots.

I second Publican red-wine poached eggs, and have to also mention their waffles. And the eggs benedict at The Bristol.

Now, now. I am just addicted to Publican as the rest of you, but they simply cannot win every weekend — even if they’ve already won my heart.
