Where to brunch this weekend
In the event anyone noticed or cared, CBB was on hiatus due to a number of reasons. Well, two, really: recovering from a debilitating case the common head cold and from generally being a waste of space. Also, because I listen to a lot of Trina and Lil’ Kim, I am afflicted with Baddest Bitch Syndrome, which allows me to rationalize doing what I want, when I want. That, and I am a Pisces, so going to chalk it up to being a cosmic space case.

Yeah, so brunch. Sorry if I failed you. New Years Day is, in fact, the ultimate morning of hangover retribution and there was no guide to be had. Hopefully you managed. Luckily, there are still 357 more morning afters to suffer another painful hangover at brunch, including this weekend! So, let’s get to it.
Zed 451
(739 N. Clark St.; 312.266.6691)
Did you make another false promise to yourself to lose 10 pounds again? Accept defeat and reason that an all-you-can-eat buffet at a churrascaria is cool because it’s a “cultural experience.” Zed 451 recently unveiled their $24 brunch buffet, which includes: crab cake benedict, spicy chicken and waffles, panettone French toast, and brown sugar dipped Cajun bacon. Served Sunday 10:00 a.m-2:00 p.m.
ROOF at The Wit
(201 N. State St.; 312.239.9501)
It’s baffling how Chef Todd Stein manages to oversee three kitchens and still make it in with a smile on Saturday morning. I’m convinced that he is part super human, mostly based on his ability to make the perfect fried egg that defies basic laws of gravity on the spicy lamb sausage breakfast sandwich. ROOF also serves a Morning Pizza with potatoes, eggs, smoked bacon and cheddar and ricotta cheeses that is the closest thing available to Vella’s (R.I.P.) Baconegger Pizza. Served Saturday and Sunday 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
The Bristol
(2152 N. Damen Ave.; 773.862,5555)
Thumbs up to a new year and new brunch menu. If you haven’t stopped by the Bristol for awhile, a few new entrees have been added to the mix, including: deep-fried French toast, smoked brisket hash and Pandel’s rendition of a classic patty melt with melted onion, roasted mushrooms and Wisconsin butterkase cheese. Served Sunday 10:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
