Comings and goings: 9/18
John’s Place finally has opened up a sister restaurant in Roscoe Village at 2132 W Roscoe. Be on the look out for pumpkin “pie” pancakes and blueberry pancakes with lemon-poppy seed butter.
Cuban sandwiches are taking over! New on the scene is the recently relocated Cafe Con Leche from Logan Square to the new Bucktown location at 1732 N. Wabansia Ave., and 90 Miles Cuban Cafe at 3101 N. Clybourn Ave., which might give veterans Marianao and El Cubanito a run for their money. Man, I don’t know what it is about cuban sandwiches, but somehow it just works better as breakfast.
Still relatively new, The Pony serves up your run-of-the-mill bar brunch Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. On the plus side, the bar is fully stocked for all of your bloody mary needs. On the downside, U of I alumni can expect to run into all the Kams and C.O. Daniels regulars they vehemently avoided for four years.
Should we say “So long?” It’s rumored that Flapjaws Cafe has taken a “permanent vacation.” I’m going to go ahead and place the blame on Loyola students.
